Money Can’t Buy Happiness
I’ve heard that expression at various times throughout my life, usually from people who didn’t have much money. My observation is that most people don’t believe it and spend a great deal of their life trying to prove it wrong.
If one takes the expression literally, it is absolutely true because no one can buy a pound of happiness like they would a pound of tomatoes. The goods and services that money can buy is what is being referred to and the old saying could be rephrased as: “The things you buy won’t make you happy.”
The following questions are worth considering in your quest for happiness. What evidence is there that the statement is true or false? Perhaps it is only circumstantially true or false. Under what circumstances might it be true? Under what circumstances might it be false? Is it mostly true or mostly false?
Nice post!
